A brief biography of His Holiness Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche
Born to Tshering Gyeltshen and Sherab Zangmo in Tokaphu, Trashiyangtse in 1966, His Eminence Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche was officially recognized by His Holiness the Karmapa XVI and by the Royal Government of Bhutan as the unmistaken reincarnation of the Sixth Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche.
Rinpoche was enthroned as the Seventh reincarnation of Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche in the year 1972 and started his formal monastic education. In 1984, at Neynang in Sikkim and Dzongsar Shedra in Bir, India, he received complete teaching and training on the Thirteen Major Philosophical Texts from Khenchen Kunga Wangchuk. He received various teachings on both Ancient and New traditions from eminent masters like the 14th Dalai Lama, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche, Zhadeu Trulshig Rinpoche, Sakya Trichen Rinpoche, the 8th Khamtrul Rinpoche, Drubwang Penor Rinpoche and the 4th Dodrupchen Rinpoche. Specially, he received treasure teachings, both Kama and Terma from his root guru Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, including his own treasure teachings.
In the year 1982, Rinpoche established second Lhodrak Kharchu at Bumthang, and thereafter, undertook the responsibility of upholding the Jangter tradition of his predecessors.
In the year 1994, Rinpoche also established a Shedra, and he received complete cycle of Jangter Teachings from Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche.
Moreover, in 1996, Rinpoche received complete teachings of Rinchen Terzoed (The Great Treasury of Precious Termas), including the Empowerment, during which he founded a Retreat Centre (Drupdra).
In the year 2001 and in 2014, Rinpoche completed two three-year retreats at Lhodrak Kharchu. Rinpoche has so far been bestowing empowerments and giving teachings to the fortunate disciples on a continuous basis. Even to this day, Rinpoche continues to spread the precious teachings, practices and Dharma activities in various parts of the world, especially in Bhutan.
Further, in the year 2019, Rinpoche established the Yuthok Tendar Traditional Medicine Service Center at Lhodrak Kharchu for the benefit of sick beings.
